Perfect Mashed Potatoes
If you are making them for the first time or need to make enough to feed a large party here are some tips for the perfect Mashed Potatoes:
Tip 1: Pick the right type of potato. Yukon Gold makes great mashed potatoes and they have a great flavor
Tip 2: Serve them hot! Nothing is better than warm mashed potatoes. Keep them in a crockpot on low until the dinner is ready. This way you can make them ahead of time.
Tip 3: Mashing. Avoid an electric mixer, it can make your potatoes starchy. The best way to get smooth, lump free potatoes is with a ricer. A potato masher works too, but is a little harder to get all the lumps.
Tip 4: cooking your potatoes. You don’t want soupy potatoes so boiling them to the right tenderness is the key. Boil them until you can easily cut through the potato without resistance.
